In an effort to update the look of their manufacturing facility, Philips Medical management chose Ameriworx ESD vinyl tile for their new USA production area in Andover, Massachusetts. In the past, Philips (formerly known as Hewlett Packard Medical Systems) had used ESD carpet tiles for most of their flooring needs. The carpet tiles were originally chosen because at one time they were the least expensive flooring solution. The departure from carpet tile was stimulated by management's desire for a facility that would appear spotless and more in line with the expectations of the technology and medical industry. The carpet tiles lacked the reflectivity, clean look, and state of the art appearance of solid vinyl projects.
Ameriworx was chosen over VCT and SDT because of its ability to be buffed to a high shine regardless of scratches or traffic. The solid vinyl Ameriworx tile is produced and precision milled by Staticworx, Inc. in their Georgia facility. The tile is American-made in its entirety. The installation was completed by Middlesex Carpet, a Tewksbury, Massachusetts commercial flooring contractor.
Ameriworx tile also offered Philips the added benefit of the lowest total cost of ownership; in the past year and a half carpet prices have risen significantly. Ameriworx vinyl tile is 30% less expensive than equivalent carpet tile products and it costs less to maintain than carpet. Because it is a solid vinyl tile, Ameriworx tile can be restored to its original surface finish at any time. The product has a lifetime warranty for electrical properties and wear and meets the recommended parameters of ANSI/ESD S20.20 - 2007.
